Our Jewish Day School celebrates freedom within limits, the goal of every Montessori classroom’s unique design. Each child is actively engaged in the hands-on learning process, choosing their own work, based on their daily lessons.
Jewish Day School students learn through hands-on experiences and activities with our specialized classroom set-up. In the separate sensory, math, language and practical life areas, children master foundational skills at their own pace. New concepts are introduced through individual lessons and group activities.
We strive to bring out each child’s potential, allowing them to learn, grow and develop at their own pace. Combining the Montessori method with traditional Torah values, we take a whole child approach, enabling their physical, emotional, academic, social and spiritual development.

In 2018, Montessori Torah Academy was founded by Rabbi Yitzy Mandel and Mrs. Rochel Blaustein. Careful thought and planning were put in to building the foundation right. Attention to detail and ensuring that each child’s unique potential could be actualized, were meticulously baked into the foundation of this school. Now an established school entering its 8th year, MTA is beginning to broaden its base and establish itself as a forerunner in the Montessori Jewish Day School world.
The application of Torah principles to the Montessori method is inspired by Rabbi Jonathan Rietti’s “Al Pi Darko” model which serves as a prototype for Jewish Montessori schools across the country.
We serve Louisville’s Jewish community, currently offering a Toddler division, ages 18 months- 3, a Primary division, ages 3 – 6, a lower elementary division, ages 6 – 9, and an upper elementary division, ages 9 – 12. As we grow, we are excited to continue expanding with an infant classroom and the upper grades through 8th grade.
